Maura Cheeks is a writer and editor living in Brooklyn. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, Harvard Business Review, Tin House, Lenny Letter, Philadelphia Inquirer, HuffPost, The Muse, and her nonfiction story "Center Court" won honorable mention in the 2015 Annual Writer's Digest Competition. In 2018 she was selected to attend Tin House's Winter Workshop and was one of seven people selected to attend Jamel Brinkley's Tin House Craft Intensive.
Cheeks graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and received a certificate in publishing from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. She also holds her MBA from NYU where she conducted a study on the psychological effects of race and gender on black women in the workplace.
