Maura Cheeks is a writer and editor living in Brooklyn. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, Tin House, Harvard Business Review, Lenny Letter, Philadelphia Inquirer, HuffPost, The Muse, and her nonfiction story "Center Court" won honorable mention in the 2015 Annual Writer's Digest Competition. In 2018 she was selected to attend Tin House's Winter Workshop and was one of seven people selected to attend Jamel Brinkley's Tin House Craft Intensive.
Cheeks graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Communications and Behavior and received a certificate in publishing from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism.
Cheeks is currently pursuing her MBA at NYU where she's conducting a study on the psychological effects of race and gender on black women in the workplace.
